1、組織和管理工程部，確保有效的工作控制和保持高效率，用各種辦法提高效率和降低費用。定期檢查人員編制，保持適當的編制以便所有員工在工作時間內滿負荷工作，同時平衡員工的加班和相應的使用外部承包商。
2、指導和監督實施有效的重大問題報告制度以及日常的維保工作，確保建筑物、設施和周邊環境一直處在非常好的狀態。在適當的時間安排對機械、電氣和裝飾維保，使它們處于良好的工作狀態。
3、確保每個設備有完整的計劃維保時間，包括其他部門如洗衣房，廚房，游泳池等。還包括電梯、制冷機、鍋爐、冷卻塔、風柜和風扇、泵、自控系統等。把這些維保計劃綜合為完整的維保計劃。
4、確保設備的所有部件安全有效的運行。如有可能，密切關注維保的效果。確保維修和試運轉的記錄。
5、總工程師在財務協助下負責所有維保合同的條款的洽談；負責工程部的預算和財務計劃。必須知道酒店的財務目標。直接對酒店總經理負責，根據財務計劃采取各項措施，在不影響客人舒適度和安全的情況下實施節能。
6、協調和監督所有承包商的工作確保按合同內規定的內容全部完成。確保外來承包商和內部員工按照公司、當地的健康和安全要求來完成工作。
7、準備設備和機房所需的備品和備件，確保充足的庫存。組織和檢查工程部的倉庫，實施有效的庫存管理。
8、協助評估酒店長期設施需求，包括檢修計劃或置換工作等。和酒店總經理一起給分管領導相應的建議并起草5年的大宗費用計劃。負責推廣使用先進的技術并建議酒店管理層技術工作對酒店潛在的影響。
9、研究和布置健康和安全，能源控制和管理的措施的實施。
10、保持更新的各種檢查證件的記錄，比如（但并不局限于）：電的測試，壓力容器試驗，消防系統等。協助人事部經理計劃對員工防火/健康/安全方面的培訓。
11、完成并提供所需的所有日常報表，確保有效的記錄檔案。
12、保持與消防部門，供電部門，供水部門，城管和防疫部門等聯系，確保所有要求備案，一旦需要并應有一些具有支持性的建議。
13、研究和定期檢查所有維保合同的條款等以確定是否對酒店最有利。
14、定期舉行會議討論能源節約，環保，消防培訓，員工溝通和健康安全。同時和其他部門經理經常開會來回顧各部門設備的運轉狀況，和采購經理討論采購單的進展以確保工程部的

1、具備有關水處理，機械，制冷機，通風，空調，弱電，音響，電視，燈光，電梯，鍋爐，泵等方面的知識。
2、能夠對酒店的設施設備進行維保，包括空調，通風，冷庫，電力安裝，燈光系統，泵，鍋爐，洗衣房，廚房，電梯，消防、扶梯，音響系統，電視系統等。
3、了解掌握政府的要求和技術標準。
4、能夠執行酒店服務的要求，有節能方面的知識，能夠對工程部的員工進行培訓。
5、應至少具有2家星級酒店籌開經歷，熟悉酒店籌備、營運不同階段工程相關工作。
